At just 22, North Carolina’s Liam Purcell has emerged as one of the most exciting voices in bluegrass, blending Appalachian roots with a forward-looking approach to songwriting and performance. Raised less than a mile from legendary guitarist Doc Watson, Purcell was immersed in old-time and bluegrass traditions from an early age, shaping a sound grounded in storytelling and musical craft. As the bandleader of Cane Mill Road, he quickly made a national impression, earning Billboard Top 10 Bluegrass chart placements and recognition as the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Momentum Band of the Year. Alongside a group of accomplished young musicians, Purcell brings a dynamic, tightly connected sound that reflects both deep tradition and a willingness to explore beyond it.
